How I See the Work

01 / 07

Choose Your Hard

"Choose your hard" I heard this on a podcast during my morning run. It was a quick reminder that life is full of decisions. Personal. Professional. Big & life-changing. Trivial and inconsequential. Sometimes, there are no easy choices. Just hard ones. As my mom used to say, choosing between a rock and a hard place. Recently, life put me in that position. More than once. Not by my choosing. But now that I'm there, the decisions on next steps are mine. I get to own them. I get to make choices - none of them easy. And that's what's scary... and empowering. Choosing your hard could mean letting go of something familiar. Spending money you weren't planning to. Learning a new skill. Taking on more responsibilities... or giving some up. The hardest part, requiring the most courage, isn't in doing that thing. It's making the choice. Once you choose, the path becomes clearer. Not easier. Clearer. What hard are you choosing right now?
